Home kitchen, not a certified facility
Kristen's Cookie Jar bakes out of a home-based kitchen in Selkirk, Manitoba. The kitchen is not a certified gluten-free facility, not a licensed commercial food-manufacturing facility, and not a nut-free facility. Baked goods are prepared for direct sale under Manitoba's home-based food regulations.
Gluten-free is by recipe, not by certification
Our recipes use gluten-free ingredients and we take reasonable care to avoid gluten in the finished product. However, because this is a home kitchen and not a certified gluten-free facility, we cannot guarantee that any product is free of gluten at levels safe for people with celiac disease. If you have celiac disease or a medically-diagnosed gluten sensitivity where trace amounts matter, please talk to us before ordering so you can make an informed decision.
Nut use in the kitchen
Nuts and nut flours are used regularly in this kitchen. Even products that do not contain nuts as an ingredient may have been exposed to nut residue during preparation. If you or a recipient of your order has a nut allergy, please do not order from us. There is no safe way for us to guarantee a nut-free product from a shared kitchen that regularly handles nuts.
Other allergens
Dairy, eggs, soy, and other common allergens are also used in this kitchen. If you have any food allergy or intolerance, tell us at the time of ordering and we will honestly assess whether we can safely fulfil your order. If we cannot, we will decline and you will not be charged.
Ingredients and substitutions
Ingredient sources can change based on availability. If we make a substitution that affects an ingredient you have flagged as important (for example, a switch of dairy brand), we will contact you before baking to confirm you still want to proceed.
Storage, freshness, and food safety
Baked goods are made without commercial preservatives. Storage guidance is included with every order. Once an order has been picked up or delivered and left in your care, responsibility for storage, safe handling, and consumption timing passes to you.
Photography and product appearance
Photos on this website show past batches and are illustrative. Your order will look similar but not identical - each batch is hand-made and small natural variations in colour, shape, and decoration are expected.
Reliance on website content
Menu, pricing, market schedule, and availability information on this website is kept current on a best-efforts basis. Please confirm final details at the time of ordering.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kristen's Cookie Jar shall not be liable for any injury, illness, or adverse reaction resulting from the consumption of a product where the allergen guidance in this disclaimer and in the order confirmation has been read and acknowledged, and where the product has been stored and handled per the guidance provided.
